Rhianon Fletcher, a junior at the University of Minnesota Duluth, is studying criminology, international studies and Russian area studies. She is heavily involved in on-campus groups such as the international social sorority Phi Sigma Sigma, UMD Greek Life, the honor society Mortar Board and the UMD Russian Club. In addition to these activities she enjoys volunteering her time in the Duluth community at elementary schools and other various causes. This spring, she is participating in a mentorship program with transfer students where her main duties focus on integrating new students to the UMD curriculum. Last fall, Rhianon completed an Undergraduate Research Program Opportunity with a focus on human trafficking in Duluth, interviewing experts in the community about victim profiles and various recovery methods. She received a grant and prepared a final report of her findings. As for her future career goals, Rhianon hopes to work in a US government agency with focuses on international relations or law. She is interested in traveling to Petrozavodsk to learn more about Russian social services.
