  Laura Bloch
  Board Member and Certified Trainer
  Minnesota Organization on
  Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS)

Laura began her volunteer work at a very young age, working with elderly residents at a local nursing home. She now has more than 30 years of extensive experience in nonprofit work with specific areas of expertise including training, volunteer and event management and fundraising. Currently, Laura is very active with MOFAS and two other charitable organizations: Source MN (which works with homeless young adults and women escaping prostitution) and Gilda's Club Twin Cities (which provides social, emotional and psychological support for anyone impacted by cancer). Laura also teaches classes for parents in stepfamilies.

Laura began learning about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders when her son, Alex, was diagnosed in 2005. While her initial goal in researching FASDs was to help her son, sharing that knowledge with others has now become a passion. Laura also loves connecting those in the FASD community with each other to help those living with the results of prenatal exposure to alcohol and those who care for them.

Laura is thrilled for the opportunity to learn from those in Russia who are working in the FASD field, and to share the knowledge she's gained through research and the first-hand experience of a son living with this issue. She believes it is a privilege to advocate for those living with FASDs and to share the message that no amount of alcohol is safe during pregnancy.
